# FAQ

This FAQ focuses on technical questions for users interested in developing Octopus Appchain. If you have more general questions, please search for the answers in our Octopus Network FAQ (opens new window). Furthermore, feel free to ask questions on Octopus Discord (opens new window).

Does the Octopus Network have Collators like Polkadot?

No. The collators in Polkadot maintain parachain by collecting parachain transactions and producing state transition proofs for relaychain/Polkadot validators. In Octopus Network, each appchain is an independent blockchain, there are validator nodes of the appchain in the Octopus network, which collect and verify the transactions of the appchain. These validator nodes are run by OCT holders who stake OCTs to provide security for the appchain.
